THR / Monster Energy / Precision Concepts Kawasaki Wins 3 Championships In Two States On One Weekend

The THR Motorsports / Monster Energy / Precision Concepts Kawasaki team enjoyed an extremely successful weekend by clinching championships in two separate series. Robby Bell took the AMA District 37 Big 6 Grand Prix Series Pro and Four-stroke Heavyweight Expert titles, and being the Rider of Record, he also earned the Best in the Desert American Off-road Racing Series championship after partner David Pearson won that series’ finale, the Henderson 250.



Since the finale of both series conflicted, it fell to Pearson to solo the Henderson 250 south of Las Vegas, which was not a big deal to him. After all, it’s traditionally a very fast and not very physical course, and he’d soloed it last year to second (behind Bell and Shane Esposito). Plus, simply starting the race would guarantee Bell and Pearson the BITD championship since they’d amassed enough of a points lead via victories in two other rounds.

After following Ricky Brabec (who shared another THR Motorsports KX450F with Ty Renshaw) for the first lap of the 46-mile course, Pearson pulled into the lead when Renshaw “hit [a] kicker and lost a little bit of momentum, and I was able to just motor on by him,” Pearson said.


           
From there, it was an easy 1-2 for THR Motorsports /Monster Energy / Precision Concepts Kawasaki with Pearson taking the win in two hours, nine minutes and 33 seconds, Brabec/Renshaw finishing second just over three minutes behind. In final points, Bell/Pearson topped the standings with 385 while Brabec/Renshaw earned third with 356 (only two points behind second!).


           
Meanwhile, in California, Bell concentrated on a full agenda at the eighth and final round of the popular Big 6 series. Going into it, he enjoyed a fairly comfortable points lead in both the Pro and Four-stroke Heavyweight Expert classes, and he had an outside shot at Heavyweight Expert.
           
After getting a third-place start in the two-hour Pro race, Bell gradually moved up to take the lead and won going away to claim his first championship of the series. The Four-stroke Heavyweight Expert race found him repeating that performance for championship number two on his KX450F prepared by Precision Concepts’ Bob Bell. But in the Heavyweight Expert class, his two-week-long bout with the flu prevented him from mirroring those previous performances and he had to settle for third.
